Disney • Pixar’s BRAVE

BRAVE IS FINALLY GOING TO BE RELEASED ON 8TH AUG :D

I have been waiting for this film since forever, and to be honest, the trailer looks really interesting and exciting. So when nuffnang decides to hold this contest for nuffnangers, I grabbed this opportunity to participate in order to win tickets to the gala premiere of BRAVE.  :)

Like Merida, we all have our share of heroines and heroes in our life. When facing difficult situations circumstances in life, these heroines/heroes would appear at the nick of time to save us from the problem.

In March this year, I went on a skiing trip in Korea. We were all so psyched up for the trip, as it was everyone's first skiing experience. Skiing was always on my bucket list, so I was super excited and geared up for the trip. After arriving at the skiing equipment rental shop,  we were required to choose our skis and ski boots. It was everyone's first trying to wear the bulky boots, so we had a hard time trying to learn how to wear our skis.

Once we changed into our winter ski coats, we excitedly hopped onto the ski slopes and tried to wear our ski boots and skis. It was a difficult feat, which involved everyone falling after immediately wearing our skis. After a few tries, just when i thought i could finally wear my ski on my own, I happened to be facing the slope in the wrong position, and started lurching forward immediately. After traveling a few feet at top speed, I fell flat, really hard on my head (OUCH!) , my ski landed some distance away from me, and my head was burning literally. A few koreans asked me how i was, as they heard me screaming really loud a few minutes ago.  I told them i was feeling okay, but inside of me, my head was dizzy and my stomach was tied in knots. A korean ahjusshi started to teach me how to ski the right way, that i was to keep my legs close together, and to face each other in a V-shape. He was the first hero that day, that helped me up to my skis and taught me how to ski properly.

I continued to try and ski slowly as I was afraid the same thing could happen to me again. Soon after, the ski patrol team saw us struggling at the ski slopes, and each patroller decided to help each one of us. They slowly held our hands and guide us slowly as we took each baby step to the foot of the hill. After much practice, I'd decided that I got the hang of skiing, and decided to take the ski lift up to challenge the slopes again.

It seemed so fun after learning the basic techniques of skiing, and I was having the time of my life trying to navigate slowly down the slope. We skiied till 9:30, and the patrol team said we need to speed up as they closed the ski slopes at 10pm. So some of my friends decided to take the shortcut which leads back to our ski resort. Me and two other friends decided that we still wanted to ski down the entire slope, as we still haven't got enough of skiing yet.

We continued to ski happily, I was skiing behind them while they picked up more speed. I was on the far right while they were on the far left. Just when I was totally enjoying myself,  I heard my friend shouted "charis, be careful, don't lean to the right, the advanced slopes are over there." I replied, okay and slowly try to make my way to their side.

However, when I was about to adjust my position, my feet decided to line themselves in straight position, making me plunge forward. I think that was probably the scariest experience in my life. I just felt myself going so fast that I don't know how and when will I stop, it felt like a neverending freefall experience, except the wind was going so fast and cold, that I was shivering non-stop. I tried to turn to a gradual slope so that I can fall with greater ease. SO I FELL EXTREMELY HARD LIKE MY BONES IS GOING TO BREAK ANYTIME. it was a scary experience as i'd realized with horror that I fell really near the edge, and if i fell further, there was a high possibility that i would fell off the cliff.

The last few ski-ers skiied/snowboarded past me, as I tried really hard to get back on my ski to travel down the slope, as they were closing really soon. And then i'd realized that even if i got back on to my skis, I might face the possibility of FALLING because that slope was really no joke. At that point, i'd realized i was stranded at that very spot and really wanted to cry. it might sound exaggerated, but at that point, it was such a scary experience.

Just then, I heard the sound of the a ski-er skiing down the slope, my friends had called the patrol team to rescue me. MY hero appeared. :) He picked up my skis, piggybacked me and skiied all the way down the slope. I was super happy because I really thought I might get stuck there the whole night. And when he piggybacked me down the slope, I got a taste of how skiing should be like, because it was such a nice comfortable speed.

After reaching the foot of the slope, they sent me on a ski motorbike, and another hero drove me to my ski resort, it was such a nice feeling to be rescued and saved, that the traumatic experience before that seemed nothing. :)

After several death experiences, I survived. :D

YAY! achievement unlocked: we conquered skiing. :)

It was such an enjoyable experience, and I really thank God for such a professional and dedicated patrol team WHOM saved my life. They were the heroes of the skiing experience, and picked all of us up when we fell down and taught us to ski the right way. :)

I'm sure Brave is as exciting as my skiing experience. Watch how the heroine conquer her enemies and overcome difficult situations ahead of her.

I'm sure the trailer has got you all excited and psyched up for the movie. :D
