LOVE!
I 'm rather disturbed and upset by some things happened recently, and i'd rather affected by it. So, when i went for service today, I went with a heavy heart. ah, but then yuanting finally came!.haha, and that helped to lighten my mood.
the sermon today ministered to me a lott. . i could sense God's presence much stronger than usual today, and i knew that he was using Ps Mevlyn Mak's to speak to me.
SO here goes a summary of my sermon notes,:
How To Live The Most Excellent Life / 1 corinthians 13 / Rev Mevlyn Mak
The way of love is never easy. Faith, hope, and love, the greatest of all is Love. We need faith to trust in God. We need hope to find hope in the lord. But GOD himself is LOVE. <3
Love is the very essence of christianity.We all are taught to love one another, and it's a simple truth, yet hard to practise it. The fruits of the spirit are LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLESNESS, and SELF-CONTROL. Notice that Love is placed at the first of the fruits of the spirit, thus, this showing that love is the very key of the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
AGAPE= Love. Agape, the greek word of love means the deliberate choice to act in the interest of others. Sometimes, We find it hard to act in the interest of others in the expense of our interests/feelings. We lose our temper easily at the slightest disastifaction, and the anger driven by our bad temper will cause relationships to be easily affected and broken.
SO, how can we live the Most Excellent Life ?
1) priority and pe-eminence of love--realise the scheme of satan
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 "If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing." God made it clear in scripture that even if we have the greatest sacrificial zeal, power of communication to God and man, creativity and knowledge, and have not love, it is all reduced to nothing. And at times, even though we are obedient to God's calling or simply do the right things out of oblige and still lack love, it will still remain nothing and useless. Simply because the absence of LOVE.
The devil has switched our values upside-down and inside-out, so that our values are not in conformity with God's values.
MOTHER TERESA: "We cannot do great things alone, but can only do small things in love."
2)Picture and Practice Love--remove our self-centredness
1 corinthians 13:4-7 "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
reflect//reflect//hhaaa. have you grown in love over these years?, OR has your heart become smaller?_have we fallen into the devil's trap and stopped the love from flowing out?__OR have we become so hurt and wounded by the things that's happening around us that we form a protective barrier that prevents us from loving others?
_It's not what you have done, but what you have become.
We, humans have always majored in the negatives(get even with others when they hurt us, or sometimes get silent before allowing to accumulate , get the person a piece of our mind, hurt them just like they hurt us)
LOVE is patient = great suffering
in layman terms, it means that a person to b wronged is giving 2nd chances to people who once hurt them. n
Here are the other definations for a clearer idea:
boastful = not listening to others ( we always do it subtly, always talking about our own experiences and feelings, not giving any space for others to share theirs too)
proud = arrogant (lack of respect)
easily angered = easily provoked
haha. i feel like i'm doing some paraphasing(POKES_reminds me of compre!.haha)
and just to clarifyyyy, love=always trusts= not gullible
Always trusting others doesn't necessarily means that you can be easily bullied or taken advantaged on, it just means offering a 2nd chance/opportunity to the person who has hurt you unconsciously/without knowing.
love holds no records of wrongs, we forgive others, tho most of the times we are unable to forget.
when you learn to love, you will naturally love God as a result. :D
often, when we are already wounded and hurt emotionally, we find that we are unable to love anymore. Therefore, we need the healing of our hearts, for God to do a transformation in our lives/hearts.
and the most common of it all=self centredness and self=righteousness. It becomes part of us, and all we think about is ourselves, we hold too high values of ourselves, and expect too much of others tho we are unable to meet the them ourselves.
_lord,change me from the inside out_

Don't give up, love always perserveres and never fails.
